Hadleigh Mountain biking

The 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike course is found in Hadleigh park with views over the Thames estuary. Since the games it’s been turned in to 18km of trails from blue to black and is free for anyone to use.

I turned up with my brother Rob to hire the bikes on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Essex. We rode around the track which includes berms, rock gardens and small drop offs. Rob drew from his teenage years on his bike and took on a black jump, whilst I stuck to the red routes. It was a lot of fun having the freedom to go where we wanted and take our time.
After a couple of hours we called it a day to go and have a BBQ and of course it started raining! We’ll definitely be back to improve our skills around the course.

I’ve been considering taking up mountain biking. My co-workers do it and say it’s a lot of fun, but I don’t know if I have the stamina for it. It takes a lot of work. Any tips?

Hey Tobias, you should defo give it a go! Take it at your own pace and if you have trails near you ride them a lot. The more you ride, the more confident you’ll get and your stamina will build as you ride. The fun definitely makes up for the hard work! Let me know how you get on 🙂
